Newt exclusion fencing is installed as an effective barrier to ensure newts are unable to enter the proposed construction site, prior to commencement of any works. It also allows the ecologists to collect newts within the fencing and these are then taken to safe receptor areas nearby which have been enhanced by creating log piles and hibernaculum.
